Nelson, Velma "Val" age 87, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully Jan. 28, 2016. Preceded in death by parents, siblings and husbands, Skip and Arlen, and son, Keith. Survived by her loving children, Kathleen (Robert) Hovelson, Kevin (Debra) Gunderson; grandchildren, Michelle (Andy) Allen, Brian (Amal) Gunderson; great-grandchildren, Luca, Ayla, Eloise and Lyla; sister-in-law, Nancy Volmer and daughter-in-law, Patty Howard; many nieces, nephews, and loyal friends. Val was a first generation, third child of German immigrants (Vollmer) who farmed in Holloway, MN. She had a love for life and knew it was better to laugh than to cry. A 65-year resident of Bloomington and longtime parishioner at Nativity of Mary. She will be forever remembered for her kind spirit and unconditional love.
