Leonard Earl Kraft, age 98, of Portage, IN, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2016. He was born on February 16, 1918 in Hobart, IN, to Lawrence and Alvina (Tarnow) Kraft.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Thelma (Sharpe) Kraft; son, Alan (Renee) Kraft; granddaughter, Alison (Daniel) Mills and several brothers and sisters- in-law and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Kraft and Alvina Stoddard; step father, Samuel Stoddard; daughter, Beverly VanCise; son-in-law, Dr. Thomas VanCise; brother, Harold Kraft; sister, Ellen Kraft.
Leonard worked for US Steel for 38 years and Andersen Company in Burns Harbor for 10 years. He was an avid Purdue Fan and a member of The John Purdue Club.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6322 Portage Ave., Portage, IN 46368 with Pastor Skogen officiating. Burial to follow at McCool Cemetery in Portage, IN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, IN 46368.
