Maxine Irene (Onka) Visnich, 82 of Sugar Creek, MO passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at her home. She was born November 21, 1928 in Sugar Creek, MO the daughter of John and Bessie Onka. She attended Sugar Creek School and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1946. Maxine married Steve Visnich in 1946 and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. Maxine was a member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church and Lady Alter Society. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth, her parents John and Bessie Onka and brothers, Robert, John and Kenneth. Maxine greatest contribution was raising 7 children and 60 grandchildren, keeping her door open to everyone. Her family was her life, but it also included caring for elderly relatives and teens. She still had the energy to work at Sugar Creek swimming pool during the 60's and 70's. She worked and retired from Sears and Montgomery Wards. Her survivors include; her husband Steve of the home; 4 sons, Steve Visnich and wife Dorothy of Sugar Creek, MO, John Visnich and wife Jean of Bella Vista, AR, James Visnich and wife Nancy of Sugar Creek, MO and Tom Visnich of Sugar Creek, MO; 2 daughters, Claudia Visnich Spradlin and her husband Steve of Sugar Creek and Mary Kay Vochatzer of Blue Springs, MO; 19 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2011 at St. Cyril's Catholic Church with cremation to follow. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., at the Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, MO 64052. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the St. Cyril's Catholic Church.
