Charles G. Anderson, age 79, passed away at Agrace Hospice Center surrounded by his family and the love he nurtured throughout the years. He was born in Monroe, WI on December 1, 1936, the son of Melvin Anderson and Julia (Duerst) Anderson, of Argyle, WI. He attended Argyle Elementary School and Monroe High School. On October 13, 1962, Charlie married his “poopsie” of 53 years, Mary Camilla “Cammy” Peterson. On December 19, 1963, their daughter, Patricia “Patty”, was born and on November 3, 1971, their son, Neil, arrived.
Charles was employed for many years as a cheese maker, both at the Argyle Dairy and The Monroe Cheeseman Dairy. Upon moving to Madison in 1964, he was employed at Hoffman House Sauce Company and Central Wisconsin Center. The following 30 years he worked for the Wisconsin State Employees Union, Council 24 of the AFSCME. He proudly represented state employees in many different capacities through the years. He was a fierce Field Representative who had honesty and Union in his blood, and fire in his belly. No-one doubted he could and would be counted on to fight for people’s rights. He was also a member of the Retirees Union.
He is survived by: His wife, Mary Camilla; children, Patricia “Patty” Castillo and son-in-law, William “Bill” Castillo, Neil Anderson and fiancé, Noelle Ambrose; grandchildren, Cody (Hannah) Castillo, Evansville, WI, Beau Castillo, Duncan Anderson, Payton Castillo, Cruz Ambrose-Stough, Madison WI, Tristan, Aislinn, and Shaw Ambrose Rossow, Mankato, MN; great-granddaughter, Bailey Castillo, Evansville; sister, Marti (Doral) Nall, Phoenix, AZ; brother, Ed Anderson, AZ; three sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law, Darlington, WI; many nieces and nephews on each side of the family; cousins; union brothers and sisters; and long-time, special heartfelt friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brother, David; sister- in-law; two brothers-in-law; aunts and uncles; cousins, including family members on Mary’s side of the family; union brothers and sisters; and loving friends.
Charles and Mary held a special relationship. Mary had a stroke 15 years ago and Charlie was her caregiver. Although Mary is independent Charlie helped with anything anytime Mary needed it, without letting on to anyone, nor ever a complaint. He has earned a special place above.
