Fredrick Aaron Smith, 88, passed away July 14, 2016, at 8:20 a.m. while surrounded by his loving family.
Fred was born Jan. 16, 1928 in Logan, Utah. His parents were Aaron Fredrick Smith and Hilda Anderson Smith.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife
Evylin Godfrey Smith,
daughter in-law Robin Smith,
and sister
Barbara Smith.
Fred leaves behind four children
(Marilyn Budovec,
Fredrick Aaron Smith,
Susan Smith Kidman
and Jeffrey Steven Smith),
16 grandchildren,
27 great-grandchildren
and his sister Elaine Belnap.
Fred attended school in Logan, Utah.
In 1943, at the age of 15, Fred joined the U.S. Navy.
He was stationed in the Pacific and assigned to ship U.S.S. DE11 Crouter.
After the war (WWII) he was placed on leave and then was assigned to Philippines Rehabilitation Center in the town of Los Banos.
Fred was honorably discharged from the Navy and arrived home July 3, 1946.
Upon arriving home Fred went to work for Olof Nelson until 1949.
Fred and Evylin were married Sept. 1, 1949.
Fred then went to work for Studebaker until 1954 and then obtained employment with Utah Power and Light.
Fred retired in 1983.
Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting, and had a great love for guns.
A graveside service will be held in his honor Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Smithfield Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home.
