BELMONT - Mrs. Clara Mae Foster Tate, 93, formerly of 29 Oak St. died May 17, 1994, at Greenfield Manor in Gastonia. Funeral is 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church, where she was a charter member. The Revs. Donald Routh and Carrol Lindsey and Dr. Larry Wilkinson will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is 1 to 2 p.m. today at the church. McLean-Bumgardner Funeral Home is in charge. Pallbearers will be Thomas Wallace Jr., Kenneth Tate Jr., Thomas Glover Jr., David Albini, Michael Wallace, John David Tate, Scott Rankin and Robert Linville.

Mrs. Tate, a homemaker, was a native of Belmont, daughter of the late Dewitt and Ada Smith Foster. She was the widow of Leroy Tate. She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Tate. She was the oldest living member and a former treasurer of the women's society at church.

Survivors are her son, Kenneth Tate; daughter, Mrs. Peggy Wallace of Gastonia; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
