WEST COLUMBIA–Mary Sue Barnes Bond, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015. She was born January 29, 1927 in Bishopville, SC to the late Edward Simeon and Elise Lee Barnes.

She was predeceased by her husband, Morris William Bond and her son, Morris Kelly Bond.

She is survived by her sisters, Iris Cox of Cayce, Ida Lee Lockridge of Columbia, Nell Fetner of Jacksonville, Florida and a brother, Gerald Barnes of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also survived by her children, Ina Lightner Fort of Columbia, Debbie Bond Ebener of Cameron, South Carolina and Laura Bond Griffis of Irmo, South Carolina; her grandchildren Marty Fort, Lee Fort, Troy Hall, Brantley Dresch, Kyle Griffis, Caitlin Griffis and Kellee Beard. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren; Lilly, Jake and Evelyn Fort, Jackson and Mason Dresch and Kathryn McCartney Fort.

Mrs. Bond was co-owner of Columbia Paint and Decorating for many years as well as an active member of the Columbia Jazz Society, West Columbia Garden Club and Ladies Auxiliary, VFW and enjoyed volunteering for Ann Brodie’s Carolina Ballet and The Children’s Ballet of Columbia. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Visitation will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Virginia Wingard United Memorial Methodist Church, 1500 Broad River Road followed by a Memorial service at 3:00 pm.
