Robert "Bob" Bertram Agnew Died peacefully in his Novato home on May 28th, 2012. He is survived by his two sons: Mark Agnew of Novato and Steven Agnew of Seattle and their respective wives, Katie and Lynn; and three grandsons: Collin Agnew, Easton Agnew and Morgan Agnew. Bob's wife of 58 years, Diane, passed away in 2006. Bob grew up in Richmond and Oakland and served in the US Navy during the Second World War in the Pacific Theater. Graduating from San Jose State with a degree in Industrial Arts Education, he started his teaching career at Richmond High School where he taught for four years before taking a position at San Rafael High School. Over a 35-year career at San Rafael High, he taught shop and a variety of other courses, including art, mathematics, and driver ed, teaching life skills to generations of high school students. Bob was a master craftsman, known for his woodworking and blacksmithing, and a Ford Model A enthusiast. After retirement, Bob and Diane moved to Grass Valley in 1988. Bob returned to Novato in 2011 to be closer to his family. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to First Church of Christ, Scientist, Novato or to Hospice by the Bay.
