John Climer was born on September 22, 1861 in Tennessee, and he was the son of Richard Newton Climer (ca 1828–by 1880) and his wife Martha Ann (Ames) Climer (1830–1909).
He was married 1st to -- -- , and he was married 2nd in 1914 as the 1st husband of Ida Jane (Marmon) (Climer) Russell (1895–1966), the daughter of John Forrest Marmon (1864–1940) and Virginia Frances (Reese) Marmon (1866–1950).
A blacksmith and legally a resident of Auburntown in Cannon County, Tennessee, he was 75 years old and married when he died on January 12, 1937 in Nashville's Central State Hospital of chronic myocarditis. Burial was the next day AT LEBANON IN WILSON COUNTY MEMORIAL PARK, NOT in the nonexistent Lebanon Cemetery!
