Captain Nelson Pointer Jackson, USN (Ret.) was the son of Meadie Frederick Jackson Durham and John Pointer Jackson. He was a 1953 graduate of Duke University. He started singing while young and sang Tenor while at Duke and also took voice lessons at the Paris-Sorbonne University in Paris, France while serving there for the US Navy. Nelson had joined the US Navy reserves in 1951 and had a 24 year Naval career during which he commanded four Naval vessels. He retired in 1977, the same year he earned a Master's degree from Georgetown University. He became an executive with the National Defense Industry Association and was a Director with National Training Systems Association in Arlington, Virginia. Nelson was also a founder and Director of the International Training and Education Conference Ltd. in London, England. Survivors include his wife, 3 children, two step-sons and nine grandchildren.
