Iva Beatrice Allen passed away Oct. 18, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. She was born June 14, 1916, in Harper County, Okla. Her parents were Ira and Grace Smith. She was one of three sisters. She graduated from the eighth grade with a penmanship award.
She married Glenn Leo Allen Sept. 9, 1933. They were married 54 years when Glenn passed away in 1987. She lived and worked on the farm helping her husband. They lived in Rosston, Okla., Ashland, Kan., Hayden, Steamboat Springs and Grand Junction.
Iva's special interests were extensive traveling, fishing, quilting and sewing.
Iva and Glenn came to Routt County in 1934 and were farmers. After Glenn's death, Iva was an avid traveler, visiting 72 countries.
Survivors include two sons, Dwight Edgar and wife Alene of Cleveland, Ohio, and Dennis Roger and wife Madeline of Thornton; one daughter, Ardlene Louise Knoll and husband James of Walden; grandchildren, Dennis Allen, Tony Allen, Rebecca Allen, Karen Knoll, Gail Knoll, Bruce Knoll and Susan Knoll Stanley; great-grandchildren, Kiona Allen, Tristen Allen, Cody Allen, Tyler Gunderson, Conner Gunderson, Corie Knoll, Collin and Callie Stanley; and great-grandchildren, Jason and Lynne Nygaet.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Burness Norwood and Olive Insley, and by a son, Russell Allen.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Crossroads United Methodist Church.
