WYLIE DURHAM MARRIED LAFAYE GOOCH MARCH 17, 1951.
THEY HAD TWO DAUGHTERS, CYNTHIA BORN 1952 AND PATRICIA BORN 1955.
THIS WRITTEN BY DAUGHTER PATRICIA DURHAM:
"When mother and Daddy married. They lived in Fort Hood for a short period of time. Then Mother lived in Abilene while I was waiting to be born and then when they released us to travel from there to Okinawa and then back to the states and then San Juan Puerto Rico. Then Lawton
OKLAHOMA. Until 1957-1958 we lived in Abilene while Daddy was in the hospital at San Antonio, TEXAS for a year. Then back to Lawton from 1959 until around 1966. I went from 1 to 9th grade there (daddy was in France and then Germany. When DeGaule closed the posts in France He finished in Germany)Then we went to Ft Stewart GEORGIA for 1 year and then when Daddy retired to Belton, TEXAS."

A FAMILY STORY AT LAFAYE'S EXPENSE:
IN THE MID 1920S ELIZABETH ADAMS MATLOCK, LAFAYE'S GREAT GRANDMOTHER LIVED IN THE HUMPHREY HOME ON 1201 MULBERRY ST. IN ABILENE. SHE WAS ABOUT 80. This story was related by our cousin, Virginia Humphrey Johnston/Osborne, and involves herself and cousin Lafaye Gooch. Virginia was about 5 and LaFaye about 7. Grandma Matlock was around 80. Virginia and LaFaye were playing and rough-housing in the floor and making a lot of noise when grandma told them to stop and be still or she was going to spit tobacco juice all over them. Virginia minded her but LaFaye kept on playing. About that time grandma, who dipped snuff hauled off and spit all over LaFaye. Needless to say that stopped all of the fun and shocked them both. Obviously grandma was a person of her word. Lafaye proceeded to take a bath.
