George Irvin Furrow, Sr., 58, of Salem, quietly passed after a brief illness at the Salem Va. Medical Center in Salem, Va., on February 14, 2006. He loved and was devoted to his wife, Rita Furrow, for 35 wonderful years. Also his children, Angela Dawn Furrow (Angie), George Irvin Furrow, Jr. (Joe) and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Furrow; a beautiful granddaughter, Paula Gracie Allanson (Pee Gee); brothers, Jim, Robert, Harvey, Carl, Ed, and Jerry; sisters, Catherine, Mabel, Frances, and Sue; a very special friend from where he worked for 30 years, Glen Wood. He served in the U.S. Navy in the "Sea Bee's" for 2 years in Vietnam. He was a dedicated employee of Hubbell Lighting, Inc. in Christiansburg, Va. for 30 years. George loved to eat, hunt, fish, and mow the grass. He was always "pulling some kind of joke". He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2006, at Lotz Funeral Home, Salem. There will be a gathering, 2 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2006, at Halls United Methodist Church in Ironto, the Rev. Tim Gearhart officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that care packages be sent to our military in Iraq. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home, Salem.
