Charles E. Abbott, 86, a 24 year Smithfield resident, passed away Monday July 11, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted and loving husband of Patricia A. (Guilbeault) Abbott. Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Hiram and Anna (Geldart) Abbott. Mr. Abbott was a dairy manager for 38 years for the former First National Store and also for the former Mars Farmers Market before retiring in 1992. He was an army veteran of the Korean War, a member of American Legion Post 295 in Quincy, MA and a 53 year member of Union Lodge, A.F. & A.M. Besides his wife, he was the father of Charles P. Abbott (Victoria) of Holbrook, MA and Diane E. Kennedy (Mark) of Marshfield, MA. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Timothy J. Guilbeault (Hanoi) of Coventry, RI, Robert U. Guilbeault of Roxbury, CT and Judith L. Roberts (Daniel) of Cumberland, ME; and 14 grandchildren.
His funeral will be held Friday July 15, 2016 at 9am from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt.44) Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Michael's Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Burial will be in Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree, MA. Visitation Thursday 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 will be appreciated.
