Sammy was born December 9, 1925, the son of Grace (Provan) and Andrew Allan in Arma, Kansas. He attended rural school in Arma, Kansas. Upon schooling, Sammy enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 as a seabee doing construction and building roads. He served until the end of the war. Upon his discharge he returned to Kansas and married Bernice Stout in 1946. He worked on the Hoover Dam and construction in the South Western states. The family moved to Gillette, Wyoming in 1968 where he worked in the oil fields. They moved to Pine Haven, Wyoming and retired in 1984 from Amax Coal Company.

Sammy was a member of the Moorcroft Legion Post #8475 and the Elks Lodge. His hobbies were bowling and building miniature houses for his grandchildren. He was also an avid fan of the Fox News.

Sammy is survived by three children: Andrew (Colleen) Allan of Boston, Massachusetts; Patti (Jim) Dennis of Susanville, California; Richard (Susan) Allan of Gillette, Wyoming; two sisters: Mildred Schallard of Lakeland, Florida; Pauline Rosenberry of Joplin, Missouri; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.
