GRAND MEADOW --Harrison T. Alink, age 87, of Grand Meadow and formerly of Austin, died Nov. 16, 2006, at the Grand Meadow Health Care Center in Grand Meadow, Minn.

Harrison Thaddeus Alink was born on June 5, 1919, at the Oaks Farm Dairy by Spring Valley, Minn., to Clarence and Edith (Carrier) Alink. He attended Maple Lane School in rural Spring Valley through the eighth grade. On Oct. 31, 1939, Harrison was united in marriage to Elaine Fimon at the Peace United Church of Christ in Rochester, Minn.
He was a WWII veteran, serving in the merchant marines. When he returned home, he farmed for several years. After farming, he became a mobile home manager and repairman, retiring at age 62. Harrison was a member of the American Legion and the Eagles of Austin.

Harrison is survived by his six children: Judith (Ronald) Boone, of Grand Meadow, Minn.; Joyce (Joel) Groenke, of Zumbro Falls, Minn.; Harley (Mary) Alink, of Mountainburg, Ark.; Connie (Patrick) Smith, of Winona, Minn.; Christine (James) Preston, of Rochester, Minn.; and Gary (Carla) Alink, of Austin, Minn.; 12 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine, in February 2006; son-in-law; and two sisters, Bethany and Shirley.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at the United Church of Grand Meadow in Grand Meadow, Minn., with Pastor Karen Ashton officiating. Burial will be at the Hamilton Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
Hindt Funeral Home of Grand Meadow, Minn., is in charge of arrangements.
