A private family graveside inurnment will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at the Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa, IL. With Pastor Jerry Koch officiating. There will be no visitation, Duffy-Pils Memorial Home; Chenoa has charge of arrangements.
Mr. Saffer was born November 11, 1932 in Bloomington, IL, a son to Austin "Pat" and Mabel (Stretch) Saffer. He married Donna Augspurger December 28, 1958 in Chenoa, IL. She Survives in Chenoa.
Also surviving are 2 sons: Rod Saffer, Chenoa, IL, Scott (Carolynne) Saffer, Virginia, IL and one sister Pat (Bob) Goodin, Chenoa, IL
He was preceded in death by both parents and 1 infant Brother.
He served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sargent during the Korean Conflict from Feb. 27, 1952 to Feb. 11, 1956.
Bob moved to Chenoa in 1958 where he was a long time area owner of several restaurants including the "Kat-e-Korner". He also worked as general manager of Dave's Supermarket in Fairbury for over 20 years. From 1988 to present he has owned & operated the "Kat-e-Korner Gift Shop" in Chenoa with his wife Donna. He was a member of the Chenoa United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to Chenoa Fire & Ambulance Dept. or The Ministerial Alliance of Chenoa.
