Connie Bashford 82 passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron. Connie was born January 9, 1934 the son of J Herschel and Mildred K. (Stevens) Bashford in Carlow, MO.

He attended the Carlow Consolidated Public School in 1948 and transferred to the Jamesport High School graduating from Gallatin High School in 1952.

Connie entered the US Air Force, proudly serving his country for 4 years. After being discharged from the Military Connie began his professional career working for various electric companies. He was employed for Farmers Electric Co in Chillicothe, Missouri Power and Light, City of Gallatin, City of Macon, and the City of Cameron.

Connie had a vast knowledge of the power distribution and working within the electrical department was a perfect fit for him. His accountability, responsibility and qualifications were his strengths and made it possible for him to serve as Superintendent of many city departments.

Connie also worked at the Ford Motor Co, and Lake City Arsenal. He was no stranger to hard work and did whatever it took to get the job done.

He was married to Linda Doll of Gallatin November 7, 1958. The couple divorced in 1974. He later married Betty Lou (Whitt) Gillilan June 20, 1975 in Kansas City MO. The couple made their home in Gallatin, later moving to Cameron.

Connie was a devoted member of the First Christian Church in Gallatin. He was a man of faith and was willing to help his church in any way he could. He loved to work on cars, go to tractor pulls and was always ready to go to the air shows. Connie never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He greatly enjoyed taking drives to see the country and did it often.

His family was his pride and joy, and his love and devotion to each of them was apparent especially his grandchildren. Connie was an amazing man who served his family, community and friends. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Connie was preceded in death by his parents. Son-in-law, Stanley Swanstone and his wife of 36 years Betty Bashford.

Connie is survived by his daughter, Debbie Swanstone of Jameson, Randy Bashford and wife Johanna of Fort Worth TX, Ray Bashford of Gallatin, Donna Bashford of Lincoln, NE, Step-daughter, Sharon Bell and husband Bruce of Gallatin, brother, Jerry Bashford and wife Ruthie of Gallatin grandchildren, Stephanie, Colby, Brian, Sabrina, Jacob, Bricen, Kristin and Steve, and great-grandchildren Abby and Logan.

Burial will be at Centenary Cemetery near Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Centenary Cemetery in care of the Funeral Home.
