Pearl Emma Hershey, 96, long time Salida, Colorado resident, died November 15, 2006, at Columbine Manor Care Center in Salida.

Mrs. Hershey was born August 30, 1910, in Modesto, California to Henry and Theodate(Harriman) Lockhart.

Mrs. Hershey was a member of First Baptist Church, Christian Women's Club, various Bible study groups, and a past member of the Salida Hospital Auxiliary. She worked many years as a nurses aid at Salida Hospital.

She was co-owner of the telephone exchange in Howard.

Mrs. Hershey is survived by her son, Kenneth (Janice) Hershey of Canon City; daughters, Carol (Bud Browning) of Hudson, and Norma Jean Hershey of Arvada; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George Hershey, brothers, Clarence Lockhart and Ross Lockhart; half sisters, Lainadia Veazey and Juanita Scott.

Viewing is set for 9 a.m. until noon November 17, 2006 at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home. Services will be at 1 p.m. November 18, 2006 at Crossroads Baptist Church in Poncha Springs. Interment will be at the Howard Community Cemetery.
