Robert E. Ahrens, 86, died Monday, June 6, 2011, at Manor Care Health Services in Dallastown. He was the husband of Mary (McLane) Ahrens. The couple celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on April 12, 2011. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with a visitation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard at the start of the service. Mr. Ahrens was born in Lower Chanceford Township, on June 23, 1924, a son of the late Edward and Ozella H. (Alloway) Ahrens. He retired from Yorktowne Kitchens in Red Lion.He served in the European Theatre in WWII in the U.S. Army. Mr. Ahrens was a member of the Izaak Walton League of America and National Rifle Association. Mr. Ahrens leaves a son, Edward Ahrens and his wife, Carole of Glenville; two grandchildren, Allison Kleinfelter and her husband, Brad and Emily Ahrens; a great-grandson, Benjamin Kleinfelter; a sister, Betty Barshinger and her husband, Blair of Red Lion; and nieces and nephews.
