graduated Hamtramck High in 1942; married Teddy Rudrik July 31,1943;thoughts about my mother: loved music; played clarinet in high school band, listened to music & had many old 78's, bought a piano in 1963 and an organ in 1978; astronomy was of great interest, she started with binoculars and would star-gaze, she bought 2 telescopes and Ted made the driveway smooth with blacktop so it wouldn't tip over, interested in constellations, black holes & planets. the biggest deal for her was the trip to Australia to see Halley's comet in the pitch dark on board a ship. Adult ed classes were her thing: sewing lessons to make the newest "stretch" knits to an entire house of pinch pleated draperies, probably belly dancing was the oddest with gauzy skirts to the tiny finger cymbal Zils, wondered what that was all about??? for the astronomy classes she went on building rooftops in the dark. She loved to swim & even as a teen would take the bus to a pool, she loved to canoe on Belle Isle as a young woman and in the 1970’s she went with daughter Debbie in November and canoed in the icy Rifle river with no complaints, she would horseback ride with her aunt Anna, loved roller & ice skating; she loved taking cooking/baking to the next level and created some works of art, cake decorating & candy making classes were her favorites liquer filled chocolates; she loved fishing & went with young Andy & Teddy to Canada, her best accomplishment was catching a big salmon in Alaska & got it smoked/sent home to enjoy; in her later years she loved to travel and went on several cruises (Australia, Alaska, Caribbean); what an adventerous heart, she loved & lived with gusto.
