Born near Grandview, she was the daughter of John P. and Mary Hahn Kemp. In 1935, she married Bryan Starr in Grandview. He died March 9, 1980. On Aug. 25, 1984, she married Forrest Townsley in Nashua. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Townsley graduated from Grandview High School in 1928. She started teaching school in Argyle in 1930. She received her bachelor of science degree from Parsons College. She taught school until her retirement in 1965. She attended Donnellson United Methodist Church. She enjoyed wintering in Florida, reading, listening to music, jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include one daughter, Sylvia Eckmeier of Donnellson; three stepsons, Noel Townsley of Florida, Craig Townsley and Terry Townsley, both of Letts; one stepdaughter, Suzanne Bolton; one granddaughter; one grandson; numerous stepgrandchildren; four great–grandchildren; and stepgreat–grandchildren.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and five sisters.
The funeral was held at Schmitz–Lynk Funeral Home with the Rev. Judy Holcomb officiating.
