Born November 2, 1929 in St. Ignatius, Montana, daughter of David W. Jensen and Bessie Pierce.
Married Grant S. Heward on April 16, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Phyllis attended LDS Business College. She served an LDS mission in Texas. She was a foster parent for over thirty-five years and during that time served several terms as President of Utah Foster Parent Association. She also worked at Hartvigsen School for several years serving special needs students.
She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, Grant Stout Heward, 1998; second husband, Charles Eickmeyer, 2015; and siblings, Ray, Loa Jaten, Carl, Alice Brooks, Ruth, Bob, and Louise Merrill. Survived by her children, Thomas (Jeanine), Cynthia (Dave) Ramos, Steven (Sharon); Sharon (Jan) Kucera, Russell, Doug (Sandee), and Shauna (Curtis) Wayland; and many foster children she loved and cherished, all of Salt Lake City; grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Cottonwood Place and hospice.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Crescent Park Fourth Ward Chapel, 10885 South Pampas Drive (835 East), Sandy. Viewings will be held at Lake Hills Mortuary, 10055 South State Street (100 East), Sandy, on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
Interment will take place in the Lake Hills Memorial Park.
