Helen Marie Wilt, age 81, of Shelbyville, MO, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016, at her home in Shelbyville, MO.
Helen was born August 21, 1934 in Shelbina, MO, the daughter of Roger Austin Monteith and Marie Schutte. She was united in marriage to Dallas Stiefel on May 9, 1953. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1958 as a result of a hunting accident. She later married George Melvin Wilt on January 2, 1960 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shelbina, MO. George survives.
Helen is also survived by her three children, Melinda Joy Gloe and husband Roger of Amarillo, TX, Christopher George Wilt of Palmyra, MO, and Bradley Nelson Wilt and wife Nicole of Shelbyville, MO; four grandchildren, Jaime Hughes and husband Travis, Jason Gloe and wife Andrea, Lindsey Hughes and husband Brice, and Kelton Wilt, four great-grandchildren; Bailey Hughes, Sadie Hughes, Lexie Hughes, and Molly Cadra.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Jeffrey Roger Wilt.
Helen was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Altars Society. She was a homemaker who loved to bake, watch her hummingbirds, and collect Angels. Helen also loved her flowers and mowing the lawn with her John Deere mower. She enjoyed lunching with high school classmates and visiting with friends on the phone. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 11, 2016 at 10:30 am at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shelbina, MO. Burial will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday July 10, 2016 from 5to 8 pm at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral home. Scripture service will be a 4:30 pm on Sunday night. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
