Kenneth Herbert Broadfoot, 80, Holton, died Nov. 10, 2006, at a Topeka hospital. He was born Nov. 18, 1925, in Burr Oak, the son of the Rev. Clarence P. and Christie Rolfe Broadfoot. He graduated from Rossville High School in 1943, later graduated from Baker University and received a master's degree in school administration from the University of Kansas. Mr. Broadfoot served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. He later was a high school teacher and coach for many years, teaching at Oskaloosa, Effingham and Holton before retiring in 1991. He also was high school principal for four years at Westmoreland and Pomona. He managed the Holton Swimming Pool for a number of years. He was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton, where he belonged to the Volunteer Sunday School Class and was a former choir member and trustee. He was a member of the Holton Lions Club, Holton Masonic Lodge, Jackson County Retired Teachers Organization and the Northeast Kansas Area Agency on Aging, serving as chairman for several years. He married Mary M. Hart on July 4, 1948, in Westmoreland. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Jane Willich, Manhattan; two sons, Douglas Broadfoot and wife Jennifer, Hesston, and Richard Broadfoot and wife Maya, Portland, Ore.; three sisters, Christie Bramlett, Hiawatha, Catherine David, Topeka, and Helen Gilfillan, Reserve; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Broadfoot and wife Wanda; a brother, Clarence Broadfoot; and two sisters, Mary Staib and Ethel Spare. Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 16 at Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton. Private family inurnment will be in Westmoreland City Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
