Son of Robert William and Frances Ann "Fannie" Jones Feild; graduate of Princeton in 1852; married Laura Lewis on December 12, 1854; district clerk of the Citizen's Party. He served as a private in the Fifteenth Texas Cavalry, having enlisted in April, 1861. He was a member of W. P. Lane Camp, U.C.V., Van Zandt Lodge, A.O.U.W., and of the Knights of Honor. "Schaw" is alternate spelling of his middle name.
