Edgar M. Paris, 68, of 613 West Market St., died at 10:03 am Thursday Oct. 24, 1968 at the Floyd Memorial Hospital.

He is preceded in death by 2 sons, Paul Edward Pairs, age one month; and Harold Wayne Paris 22 years, killed in France WWII.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bessie P. Tames-Paris, sons Edgar Franklin and Calvin Lee Paris, and daughters Martha J. Farris (James) and Shirley A. Hotten (Hugh).

He will be at the Seabrook Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m. Friday. He will be taken to the Main Street United Methodist Church at noon Sunday, where he will lie in state until time for the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in New Albany.

Edgar was a son of Samuel C. Paris (1857-1904) & Martha E. Crawford (1859-????). married Bessie P. Tames (1899-1982) on August 2, 1919 in Floyd County, Indiana. They had six identified children.
Edgar's grave marker and obituary show a death date of "October 24, 1968" which conflicts with the Social Security Death Index which shows a death date of "October 15, 1968." Grave Marker, Obituary and Indiana Death Certificate determined the date given to be correct.
