Harold C. Algyer
MARSHALL — Services for Harold C. Algyer, 75, of Marshall will be at 2 p.m. today at St. James' Episcopal Church in Marshall. There will be no visitation or reviewal.
Mr. Algyer died Saturday at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
He was born June 15, 1913, in Tracy to Harold and Delpha (Peek) Algyer.
He attended Beloit University in Beloit, Wis., and received a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota. During World War II, he was an Army lieutenant. On June 15, 1945, he married Anne Tarpey in Palm Springs, Fla. He worked as a writer for NBC; CBS; N.W. Ayer; and Batten, Barton, Durstine and Osborn.
Mr. Algyer was involved in many SSU theater productions including "The Man Who Came to Dinner," "The Mousetrap," "Our Town," "Inherit the Wind," "The Lark," "The Importance of Being Earnest," "The Fantasticks" and "Arsenic and Old Lace." He was an honorary member of the SSU Alumni Association.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Nanci (Mrs. Frank) Franzo of Hawley, Pa.; sons, David of Tracy and Harold Mills II of Rochester; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials are preferred to St. James' Episcopal Church.
The Rehkamp Funeral Home in Marshall is in charge of arrangements.
