Maude Sampson, 87 of Grantsville, WV, died Tuesday, July 31 in Roane General Hospital, Spencer, WV.

Born in Calhoun County, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Ann Bell Kerby.

Mrs. Sampson was a Methodist by faith and a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Lovell O. Sampson; a daughter, June Godfrey of Grantsville; two sons, Don Sampson of Millstone, WV and Charles Sampson of Grantsville; a brother, Bernard Kerby of Grantsville; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandchild; three sisters, Delta Sampson, Nellie Godfrey and Delphia Taylor; three brothers, Roscoe, William and Joe Kerby; four half sisters, Josie Sampson, Laura Whytsell, Minnie Miller and Sarah Miller; three half brothers, Dewey, Floyd and Lawrence Kerby.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 2, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Reverend Carl Marks will officiate. Interment will be in the Gibson Cemetery, Arnoldsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
