Frank Carter, 70, died at his home, 607 South Street at 3:35 a.m., Monday, August 19. Mr. Carter was born at Steubenville, Ohio, June 25, 1870, a son of John Dawson and Margaret Johnson Carter. On April 13, 1886, he married Minnie Horn, who preceded him in death a number of years ago. His second marriage was to Sara Hochstein. For the past several years he has been caretaker of the First Methodist church and has been a resident of Clarion for 26 years. He was a member of the Methodist church. Surviving are his wife, three sons, John D. Carter, Clarion; Frank Carter, Jr., and Earl, of Sapulpa, Okla.; five daughters, Mrs. Eula Fridley, Indianapolis, Ind.; Mrs. John Dickey, Brackenridge; Mrs. Charley Bigley, Mrs. Floyd Bigley, of Clarion; Mrs. Frank Knecht, Cleveland, and a sister, Nellie Wike, of Freedom. Twenty-five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday at the Methodist church with Rev. Mark Parry, pastor, officiating, assisted by Dr. D. A. Platt. Interment will be in Clarion cemetery.
