TAYLOR, Aubrey Lawrence "Sonny" Jr., 85, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cecile Condrey Taylor; daughters, Charlene T. Tibbetts (Bruce), Donna T. Lythgoe (Bobby) and Martha T. Flory (Charlie); son, Aubrey Lawrence Taylor III (Mi Kim); grandchildren, Brandon T. Tibbetts (Aislinn), Michael A. Carney, Shawn T. Carney, Byron W. Tibbetts, Chad C. Lythgoe and Jonathan B.T. Lythgoe; great-grandchildren, Brecken T. Tibbetts and Jackson C. Lythgoe; sisters, Joanne T. Sparker, Jane T. Tilley and June T. Redford (Ronald); brothers, Beverly Clay Taylor (Patsy) and Raymond Earle Taylor (Karen); many nieces and nephews; and his former daughter-in-law, Betty Malispino. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Lawrence Taylor Sr. and Helen Spencer Taylor; and his brother, Robert B. Taylor. Aubrey was a graduate of Thomas Dale High School. He joined the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany during his time of active duty. Aubrey was raised as a member of Beulah UMC and then became a long-time member of Second Branch Baptist Church, having served in many capacities over the years, including the positions of trustee, treasurer and deacon. He retired in 1995 from the Virginia Community College System, where he served as an Internal Auditor and was fondly referred to as Dr. Taylor, by his co-workers. Prior to his 20 year career with the State of Virginia, he worked at Allied Chemical and Richmond Greyhound Lines. After retiring, Aubrey was a dedicated volunteer for the Greater Richmond Meals on Wheels, where he made many new friends over a 15-year span. During retirement Aubrey looked forward to spending special time with the grandchildren, whether it was treating them to breakfast, going to the ball field or at a special vacation spot. In addition to the joyous times spent with his own family, he always looked forward to the special gatherings with "the cousins." The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the New Century Hospice and Mrs. Florine Pollard and Mrs. Minnie Johnson, for their loving care during his illness. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday (today), at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road (Rte. 10). His funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at Second Branch Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family asks that donations be considered to the Second Branch Baptist Church, Building Fund, 12217 Second Branch Rd., Chesterfield, Va. 23838.
