NORWAY - Elmer L. Durgin, 75, of West Paris, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

Elmer was born in Milton Plantation on January 4, 1941, a son of Kenneth R. and Hilma N. (Holmes) Durgin and attended Oxford schools.

For most of his life, he was a tree cutter and worked for Gowell Logging. He also operated his own woodworking business and sold his work to Oxford Pine Products. He also sold firewood and enjoyed playing cribbage.

Elmer married Eliza Mae Francis on September 1, 1967.

He leaves behind his son, Burman Joseph Durgin and his wife, Kristy, of Sumner; a brother, Dwayne Durgin and his wife, Becky, of Sumner; three sisters, Charlotte Varney and her husband, John, of Oxford, Sheila Durgin of South Paris, and Cheryl Cabana of Oxford; and two grandchildren, Cameron Joseph Durgin and Cayden James Durgin.

He is predeceased by his wife; his parents; several brothers and sisters; and his companion, Janis Buck.

FUNERAL SERVICE
DURGIN - Elmer L., 75, of West Paris, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 9, at 2pm, at the Riverside Annex Cemetery in South Paris. Arrangements are in the care of CHANDLER FUNERAL HOMES AND CREMATION SERVICE, 45 Main Street, South Paris.
