George Edward Hook
July 6, 2016:

George Edward “Bob” Hook, 79, of Fulton passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Boone Hospital Center, surrounded by his loved ones.
Bob was born on July 11, 1936 in Callaway County, the son of the late Turner Hook and the late Ruby (Bell) Hook.

On September 24, 1957, he was united in marriage to Mary (Sheets) Hook. She survives his passing.

Bob held several jobs at Callaway Hospital, Missouri School for the Deaf and Hybrid Seed Company. The majority of his working life was spent with North Callaway School District where he worked as a bus driver. His family owned Hook’s Junk Yard.

Bob could usually be found at the races on Friday night cheering on his favorite driver, Steve Payne. He liked to watch wrestling and playing cards with his wife and family. Until his health declined, he spent many hours cutting cedar logs. Family was important to Bob, especially family get-togethers. He looked forward to each family reunion. He was the giver of nicknames, making sure each family member had one, and called them only by their nickname, never their given name. He had a personality that could brighten even the worst day.

Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary; children, Russell “Rusty” Hook (Debbie), Mike Hook, Lori Hook (Shawn), and Wendy Williams, all of Fulton; five brothers, Kenneth Hook (Diane) of Eudora, KS, David Hook (Linda), Jody Hook (Bambi), Turner Hook, and Arthur Hook, all of Williamsburg; sisters, Alice Spencer of Fulton, and Odessa Riley and Susie Trimble of Fort Scott, KS; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Joseph; grandparents, George and Sara Bell, and Edward and Martha Hook; and son-in-law, Mike Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Maupin Funeral Home with Pastors Mike Crowson and Bruce Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery in Reform.
Memorial donations are suggested to Maupin Funeral Home for the family, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.

Would have been 84,
It broke our hearts to lose you. You didn't want to go alone,
for part of us went with you, when God called you home four years ago.

Love and miss you.
Your family
Rusty and Debbie, Mike, Lori and Wendy
and a wonderful wife, Mary Hook and grandchildren.
