Donna I. Bacon, 78, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Trinity Manor surrounded by family in Dodge City, KS.
She was born April 10, 1938, in Topeka, KS to Hazel and George Henry. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1956.
Soon after high school, she married Don B. Bacon on June 17, 1956 at the Topeka Friends Church. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, October 31, 1996. As a longtime resident of Fowler, KS, she was devoted to her way of life on the ranch including livestock and farming duties and raising her children alongside her husband.
During her busy schedule, her interests included needlework, genealogy, watching western programs, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. Along with that, she was also an avid member of the Friends Church in Fowler, KS. She truly enjoyed her family and friends, but she was an especially proud wife, mother, grandmother, and even great-grandmother. Donna is survived by a brother Marvin Henry of Jetmore and sisters, Marquita Cummings of Maryland and Judith Shipman of Littleton, Colo. Other survivors include her three sons: Daniel B. Bacon and wife Nancy of Latham, Darryl D. Bacon of Ensign, and Doyle H. Bacon and wife Sharon of Dodge City. Her nine grandchildren include Bridget Prochnow, Charles Bacon, Brandi Goracke, Wesley Bacon, Robbin Myers, Katelyn Wolfe, Audrey Bacon, McKayla Bacon, and Ty Bacon; including eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2p.m., Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Ziegler Funeral Home, Dodge City, KS., followed by an interment at Maple Grove cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm Wednesday at the chapel. A Reception is to follow at the VFW at 4 p.m. in Dodge City.
The family suggests donations to the American Heart Association in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel 1901 N. 14th Ave. Dodge City, Kasnas 67801.
