Mary C. Wetherell, 77, of Lebanon died Tuesday at her home.


She was born in Brainard, Nebraska to George and Rose (Havlovic) Kriz. She moved to Iowa in her youth and graduated from Milford High School.


She attended college to learn telegraphy and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad during World War II.


She married Richard Wetherell on December 7, 1945, in Goldendale, Washington. They moved to Lebanon in 1949 from Arlington.


Mrs. Wetherell was a homemaker and after her children were grown, she went to work in 1971 for the Lebanon J.C. Penney Store. She worked there as a salesclerk until 1986.


She was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church and was active with St. Vincent DePaul, the Resurrection Choir and taking communion to the homebound.


She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crossword puzzles, reading her Bible and attending daily Mass. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in sports.


She is survived by her husband; son George Wetherell of Albany; daughters Janey Lidgren, Rosalie Wetherell, Dorthy Gibbs, all of Lebanon, Francee Soper of Olympia, Wash., and Margaret Anne Wetherell of Albany; brother George Kriz of Winchester, Va.; sisters Georgia Harrington of Britt, Iowa, and Sister Emma Kriz of David, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by son Richard V. Wetherell; two infant daughters; and sister Rosalie Kriz.


Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 9 am Saturday at St. Edward's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 am at the church with Father Paul Maher, O.M.I. celebrating. Private burial will be in the Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
