Mrs. E. J. Elgersma Passed Away Mon.

Mrs. Ernie J. Elgersma passed away Monday at the Hull hospital after an illness of three weeks. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon in the Christian Reformed church with the Rev. Gerald J. Postma in charge. Burial will be at Roseland Cemetery.

Bessie DeVries Elgersma, daughter of Jake and Ida DeVries, was born at Hull, Iowa on December 13, 1906 and passed away in the hospital at Hull August 21, 1950, at the age of 43 years, 8 months and 8 days.

She spent her childhood near Hull but when she was just a young girl the family came to O'Brien county to live.

On October 12, 1926, she was united in marriage to Ernest J. Elgersma at Sanborn. They have lived in the Sanborn and Hartley vicinity ever since, their present home being northwest of Hartley.

To their union six children were born. Elmer Eugene, the fourth child, died in infancy. Jacob Earl, Ida Jane, Gerald James, Eugene Dale and Kenneth Leo, all at home, with their father remain to cherish the memory of a loving Christian wife and mother.

Mrs. Elgersma's mother passed away in 1920. Her father, Jake DeVries, of Denver, Colo., survives her and also five brothers and sisters: John DeVries, of Dalbo, Minn.; Mrs. Ann Klynsma, Pella, Ia.; Mrs. Minnie Norden, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Martha Kruelen, Boyden, and Dewey DeVries, Denver, Colo.

Mrs. Elgersma had a happy disposition and made lasting friendships easily; she was devoted to her family and loyal to friends who will miss her greatly.

She was a member of the Christian Reformed church and active in its work. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Klynsma, Mrs. Minnie Norden, Mr. Jake DeVries and Dewey DeVries, of Denver, came the first of the week and will attend the services for their sister and daughter.
