In the last years of her life, Lottie always said that she was born in 1923. In the earlier part of her life, many of us thought that she was born in 1920. Census records of 1920 show that she was alive, so obviously, she was three years older, than she said that she was. LOL When having her grave marker made, we honored her claim of being born in 1923 and being younger than she really was.

The message below was in the leaflet passed out at the church at the funeral:

Lottie Williams Robinson was one of nine children born to Peter J. Williams, Sr. and Birdie (nee Whetsell) Williams. She was the last surviving child of the couple. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Caroline W. Williams, Mary W. Miller, Nellie W. Tilly, Peter J. Williams, Jr., Sally Williams, Doris W. Thompson, Mamie G.W. Howard, and Maggie L. Williams.

She was married to the late Jesse "Sugie" (Sugar) Robinson, and although she did not bear children, she had many youngsters who considered her their mother.

Lottie received her education in Orangeburg at Dunton Memorial Elementary School, graduated from Wilkinson High School, attended South Carolina State College, and graduated from nursing school as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Lottie had a diverse career. She and "Sugie" helped operate the Orangeburg Country Club for many years. She worked at the Tri County Hospital, for the family of Andrew David Griffith, are nursing homes, and retired as an infirmary nurse at Voorhees College, Denmark, South Carolina.

At an early age, Lottie joined New Mount Zion Baptist Church. She worked tirelessly in many church organizations, including the Senior Choir, Hazel Pierce-Victoria Scott Missionary Society, Busy Bee Club, Vacation Bible School, and was head cook in the church soup kitchen. Lottie was a member of Esther Chapter No. 35, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Sunlight Club.

Lottie was truly a fun person. She could make anyone smile and laugh. She had a heart of gold and and was always there to help countless friends and family throughout the course of her life. Lottie loved to give, and all of us who knew and loved her benefited from her wonderful and generous spirit. Her favorite hobbies included storytelling, Bingo, Pokeno, cooking delicious meals for others to enjoy, the Dunton Memorial Club, bus trips, and participating in activities with the Women's Auxiliary of VFW Post 8166.

Precious memories of her life will always be cherished by an aunt, Lillian T. Williams; nieces Rosalyn Tilly Russell, Barbara Jean Tilly Graves, Bertie Ruth Howard, Nelfred Tilly Blanding, Adrienne Williams, Jean Michelle Howard Harrell and husband, Dana, Margo Williams Moorer and husband, William; nephew, Ralph LeBron Williams; special daughters, Eleanor "Nora" Jane Robinson and Kathy Griffith Wagner, and special son, Jeffrey Mitchell; and numerous grand and great grand nieces and nephews, cousins, as well as many other family members and friends.

The family is especiallly grateful for the compassionate and loving care provided by Eva Dean Bowman, Patricia Govan, JoAnn Houser, and Henrietta Jamison.

A celebration of Lottie's life was held, Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at New Mount Zion Baptist Church, 739 Amelia Street, Orangeburg, South Carolina, with the Reverend Jerome Anderson officiating. Interment will be at Belleville Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg.
