Nan Bell Richardson, 71, Rt. 8, Hickory, died unexpectedly Sunday of natural causes in a Hickory hospital.

A retired cutter for P.G. Furniture, she was born July 19, 1913 in Catawba County, a daughter of the late John Murray and Sallie Whitener Richardson.

Surviving are seven nieces, including Nan R. Spencer of Rt. 8, Hickory, Margaret S. Hunt, Ruby L. Stephens and Linda R. Rudisill of Hickory and Carol R. Terry of Hildebran; and 11 nephews, including James "Pete" Stephens, Ralph F. Stephens, Johnny M. Stephens and Paul B. Stephens of Hickory and Johnny Richardson of Statesville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bass-Smith Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park.
