Mrs. Sarah Brewer
Mrs. Sarah Brewer Died at Niota, IL, Thursday evening, July 17, 1913, aged 83 years, 9 months and 5 days.
The lady spent the last few months of her life in La harpe at the home of her son, James W. Wilson, and about nine weeks ago, fell and broke her hip. Owing to her advanced age she, never recovered from the injury. she returned to Niota, which had been her home for many years, just a week previous to her demise.
Her maiden name was Sarah Ellen Snyder and she was born in Huntingdon county, Pennsylvania, October 12, 1829. She was married to William Walters Wilson March 17, 1847. They were the parents of ten children, three of whom died in infancy, In 1857 Mr. and Mrs. Wilson came with their family to Hancock county, Illinois. Mr. Wilson enlisted in the civil war and died in the service April 15, 1865. The surviving children are Albert, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Mrs. Jane Harmon of Tacoma, Wash., John S. of Carthage; Joseph R, of Niota; Mrs Mary Hay, of Hydro, Oklahoma; and James W. Wilson of La Harpe. David George died in the spring of 1902.
In 1872 Mrs. Wilson was married to Thomas J. Brewer, who died October 25, 1906. When quite young she united with the Methodist church and ever afterwards lived a true Christian life.
The funeral and burial occurred at Niota Saturday, attended by the following relatives from La Harpe. Mr. and Mrs. James Wilson and son Charlie; Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Fowler with Will Hay, wife and daughter, Myrtle.
