When Veiana married James Monroe, she was 18 years old. He died very young, leaving her a widow at age 50. In 1940, she married John Bay.

She had a stroke and became paralyzed. Her daughter, Daisy Hodges took loving care of her ailing mother. After gangrene set in, Annie passed away.
