Funeral services are Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Sutton Memorial Chapel with the Free German Reformed Salem Church Elders officiating. Interment will follow at the Free German Reformed Salem Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m., with the family present from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.
Esther was born July 4, 1916, in Sutton, NE to William and Lydia (Griess) Huber. She attended country school and eventually worked as a cook at Rolfes Tavern for 33 years.
She married John “Jack” Griess on August 22, 1938, he was a farmer. They were married 39 years. They had on daughter, Norma Jean, who was born February 23, 1939, and passed away July 15, 1939.
A special memory of hers was traveling with her sisters. Her hobbies and interests included keeping a family record and shopping with her sister, Helen. A talent of hers was that she could play the piano very well.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter; 4 sisters, Clara; Hilda; Emma; Helen; and 1 brother Eddie.
