Boyd Reed Lewis 1920 ~ 2003 Boyd Reed Lewis, 83, passed away on December 9, 2003 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born May 20, 1920 in Roosevelt, Utah, to Mervin R. and Mildred Barker Lewis. He graduated from Wasatch High School in Heber, where he played Varsity football for four years. He married his sweetheart, Bernice Maxwell, on August 8, 1941 in the Logan Temple. They made their first home in Park City, Utah, and later moved to Heber, where they lived for 15 years, before moving to Provo, where they spent the last 39 years. Boyd enjoyed hunting and fishing. He cherished the time spent with his family. Family and loved ones always came first in his life, and he had a very special, close relationship with his grandchildren. He loved them very much, and was proud of their accomplishments. All of those who knew Boyd, loved and will miss him dearly. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held various callings. Boyd was a hard worker all of his life. In his younger years he worked for the Park City Mining District. He was a builder and contractor, and built many homes in Utah. He worked for Brigham Young University, and retired from the Auxiliary Services Department after 27 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bernice; and their four children, Connie (Leon) Fish of Mesa, Arizona; Dixie (Greg) Wood of Springville, Utah; Tonya (Randall) Ercanbrack of Santaquin, Utah; Jeffrey (Tina) Lewis of Las Vegas, Nevada; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Garth Lewis of Lehi. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Virgil, and a sister, LaRue. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 2003, at 11:00 a.m., in the Edgemont 21st Ward LDS Chapel, 2900 North 650 East, Provo. Friends may call Thursday, from 6-8 p.m., at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, or Friday morning at the Ward Chapel, one hour prior to services. Interment, Orem City Cemetery.
