Ina Belle Reed, longtime Cushing and Agra resident, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016, at her home at the age of 87 years.
The daughter of the late Thurman Otmer Davis and Nellie Mae Ernst Davis, Ina Belle was born on September 23, 1928, in a log cabin two miles north of Good Hope, Missouri. As a small child she was adopted by Charles Gardner Tucker and Laura Jane West Tucker. She was raised and educated in this area, attending Eureka, Glencoe and Ripley Schools, graduating from Ripley High School in 1946.
She fell in love with her blue eyed life mate, Garold Ferdenent Reed, on December 9, 1945 and they were united in marriage on June 2, 1946 and to this union three sons, Richard, Drew and Keith were born. Garold preceded her in death on December 15, 2012, a marriage that lasted over 67 years.
Ina Belle was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Agra, joining the church on January 17, 1947. She enjoyed attending and serving at the church and had helped with many funeral dinners over the years. She was a member of the Agra Home Extension, serving as President several years; a member of the Lincoln County Extension; a member of the Piece Maker of Cushing Quilt Guild; she enjoyed reading, crocheting, quilting, spending time with her four legged baby girl, Lydi Ann and drinking Pepsi.
While her sons were growing up, she had served as a Cub Scout den mother and was very proud of her sons earning the Eagle Badge, Drew the Star Scout and Keith the Life Time Heart.
For many years she entered the Payne County Fair and had won Grand Champion for her bread, Best of Show for her clothes and had received several ribbons for her quilts.
She was an avid shopper, always wanting to go someplace and buy more fabric. She also enjoyed listening to gospel music, especially the group “For His Purpose”. Ina Belle spoke to many people about the author Robert E. Parks from Stillwater mentioning her as one of his number one fans in the book “A Call for Mid Knight”.
Survivors include one son Keith Reed of Carney; 5 grandchildren, Nikki, Danielle, Richard Joshua, Andrea and Amanda Jo; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Drew; two brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Shaw, Pastor of the First Baptist Church Agra, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery at Glencoe.
