MRS. A.L. JARNAGIN RITES MONDAY--Mrs. Addie Bateman Jarnagin, widow of A.L. Jarnagin, and formerly a resident of Monroe, Iowa, died December 26 at the home of her son Lloyd of Mankato, Minnesota; with whom she had made her home since the illness and death of her daughter, Grace Lucile Nolin of Mitchellville, Iowa
Mrs. Jarnagin had been in failing health for several years, but she became critically illl unexpectedly, about midnight Friday and died Saturday morning.
Addie Bateman was born September 26, 1863, at Farmington, Iowa. When a small child, her parents, Mark W. and Rachel Jane Bateman, moved to Monroe, Iowa. She graduated from the public school there in 1880.
She married February 28, 1884 to Alpheus Lewis Jarnagin at Monroe, Iowa, where they made their home.
She was a member of the Monroe Methodist church for many years; also a member of the Womens Releif Corp. In her church she was active, faithful, and always willing to do what ever might be asked of her.
Her friends were many; her acts of kindness and good deeds will always be remembered.
Precededing her in death were her husband, who died in February 1912 and her daughter, Mrs. Grace Lucile Nolin, January 5, 1941, a brother James E. Bateman of Milton, Oregon on February 23, 1935.
Surviving are her three sisters, and a brother--Mrs. Madge B. Ible, Mrs. Stella B. Hough, Fred C. Bateman all of Monroe, Iowa. and Olive B. Crosby of Grand Junction, Colorado; five grandchildren, Mrrs. Lucile Jarnagin Gray of Minneapolis, Minn., Karl Nolin of Ralston, Iowa, Harold Nolin, DeKalb, Illinois, Bert Nolin, Charles City, Iowa Wayne Nolin, bondurant, Iowa and eight great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Methodist Church at 2:30 for Mrs. Addie Jarnagin. Interment was in Monroe Cemetery.
