Kenneth Lee "Ken" Benson
1928 - 2016

Kenneth Lee Benson, age 87, of Lindon, Utah, died June 21, 2016. He was born on August 17, 1928, in Roosevelt, Utah, to Archie Peter and Ruth Marie Bradford Benson. Ken grew up with his four brothers in Ioka and Roosevelt, Utah. He was a dutiful son and a loyal brother.

Ken married Marjorie JoAnn Roberts on July 1, 1961; their marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple on May 12, 1962. Ken was deeply devoted to his wife and family. He cherished family relationships and promoted the development of family bonds at every opportunity. He loved to take the family on vacations. He was at home behind the wheel of his RV and drove his motorhome from Canada to Mexico. There were frequent RV trips to Yuma and Quartzsite, Arizona. Ken loved hunting and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed the seasonal changes of autumn.

Growing up in humble circumstances, Ken had great aspirations and was an extremely hard worker. He earned two Doctorate degrees. Ken was a successful investor and had several different professions including licensed chiropractor, general contractor, and owner of over 200 apartments. He was president of the Utah Home Builders Association. Although he was successful at business, his treasure was his wife and children.

He loved Christ and showed his faith by serving others throughout his life. Ken was often serving others in secret. He was friendly and kind to everyone he encountered. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many capacities. He served in both the Provo and the St. George Utah Temple, and he later completed a mission with his wife, JoAnn, in St. George, Utah.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn; his eight children: Kathy Benson, David (Jo) Benson, Doug (Tera) Benson, Robin (Kip) Kent, Wendy (Logan) Bendio, Jill (Marc) Haynie, Merrigay (Mike) Steskal and Kenneth (Gina) Benson; 30 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his four brothers: Buck, Tom, L.G., and M.E.; and one granddaughter, Kayleen.

We love and honor him, and he will be missed.
