Donald C. Askew, passed away Jan. 31, 1995, in Pueblo. He was born in Graneros, Colo., on Jan. 8, 1922. Donald worked as a real estate salesman in this area before beginning his career as a structural ironworker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force having served as a fighter pilot during WWII. Donald was a member of Elks Lodge No. 90, and the Structural Ironworkers Local No. 750, Mr. Askew is survived by his wife, Alta May, of Pueblo; son, Davis (Dianne) Askew of Grand Junction; daughters, Dona Hilsher of Texas, Susan (Dean) Lungu of Nevada; stepmother, Ann Marie Askew of Pueblo; brother, George Blanchfield of Pueblo; sister DeLois Jessuo of California; grandchildren, Michael and Christopher Hilsher of Texas, Amy Stewart of Grand Junction, Hanna and Zachary Lungu of Nevada; great-grandson, Dakota Stewart of Grand Junction; as well as several nieces and nephews including. Robert (Dorie) Askew and William Askew both of Denver, and Virginia Toby of California. Mr. Askew will lie in state from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. today at the mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 1995, in the Davis Memorial Chapel with Rev. Earleen Cornell officiating and memorial rites by Pueblo Elks Lodge No. 90. Cremation will follow in the Davis Crematory. Contributions in memory of Donald may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or to the Elks Lodge No. 90 Endowment Fund, either direct or through the mortuary.
