Mrs. Moyer was a daughter of Daniel Lehman of Campbelltown, Pa. She was converted in her early youth and became a member of the German Reformed church at Campbelltown.
She was married to Michael Moyer, of that same place, in May 1858, and to them were born four children as above stated. The family moved from Pennsylvania to Ridott, Stephenson County, Illinois, in 1865, and from there to Hardin County, Iowa, in 1874. In 1876 both became members of the Free Methodist church. Mrs. Moyer was a faithful member of her church, a consistent Christian and a loving wife and mother until the death angel claimed her.
During her sickness, Mary could not rest long in one position and so spent much of her time, day and night, in the rocking chair and often leaned back her head and went to sleep. While in this position she just stopped breathing and was gone, never to return. The funeral was held on Sunday, June 12th, with a short service at the house; thence to the M. E. church. An appropriate sermon on the text from Hebrews 11: 3940, was preached by the pastor of the church, Rev. M. R. Walton, after which the funeral procession proceeded to the beautiful Elsinore Cemetery, where the remains were laid to rest, awaiting the morning of the Resurrection.
