John Willis Ray Otting,Sr.was my uncle. He was born in Rome,Georgia to the late Robert Jefferson Otting,Sr and the late Annie Mae Riggins Otting. His sisters are: Annie and June Otting,Sadie Otting Ledbetter and the late Rosetta Otting Mathews. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Robert Jefferson,Jr. Jack Edward,Elbert and Roy D. Otting. My uncle was also preceded in death by his first wife,Jewel Otting in 1982,and two deceased babies.
My uncle lived in Rome for many years,and then in the Atlanta/Lawrenceville area for many years as well. He was a Shriner. He retired years ago due to health problems. He is survived by his second wife,Mary. His children: Wanda Otting Phillips, Terry,John Willis Ray Otting,Jr., and Michael Otting. He had many grandchildren and some great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
My uncle passed away due to leukemia. His graveside service was held at Floyd Memory Gardens here in Rome. His son-in-law, the Rev. Tim Phillips officiated. My uncle was cremated. He is greatly missed.
