Amy Collings Avery Crouch, age 83, died January 7, 1990, in the Richfield Care Center.
She was born October 12, 1906, in Monroe, a daughter of Ralph and Nellie Hunt Collings. She married Cyrus Lincoln Avery December 23, 1926, in Richfield. Marriage solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple February 8, 1941. He died Dec. 6, 1975. Married Orson E. Crouch April 15, 1976, Manti LDS Temple. He died October 24, 1981. Mrs. Avery and her first husband, Lincoln, were instrumental in the beginning of the LDS Church's Indian Student Placement Program. She spent many hours searching and studying ancient Indian writings in the Sevier County area, and was awarded honorary membership in the Clear Creek Archaeological Society.
Survivors: Five children, Allen and Mrs. Bernell (Carla) Sharp, both Richfield; Mrs. Elman (Marva) Helquist, serving an LDS Mission in the San Antonio, Texas Mission; Mrs. Neil (Wanda) Twitchell, Henderson, Nevada; Burton, West Valley City; 26 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister, Ward Collings, Rossford, Ohio; Blanche Cooper, Dietrich, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 11, 1990, at 12 noon, in the Venice LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing Wednesday evening, at the Springer-Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the chapel in Venice Thursday, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Burial, Venice Cemetery.
