DEATH CAME LAST NIGHT TO MRS. MARTHA J. BOAZ
Funeral Arrangements Delayed by Critical Illness of Son
Mrs. Martha Jane Boaz, widow of Milton C. Boaz, and a pioneer woman of the Providence community, died shortly after midnight this morning. She had been ill for five months with hardening of the arteries and the end was not unexpected.
Arrangements for the funeral services were delayed today because of the critical illness of Mrs. Boaz’ son, William Boaz, who is at the point of death at his home in Union township. He is suffering from pernicious anemia.
Martha Jane Boaz was the daughter of Alfred and Mary Deer and was born in Union township, January 19, 1844. She was married to Milton C. Boaz of the White River township. They bought the old Deer homestead and spent their married life there. Mr. Boaz died March 4, 1910. Both were life long members of the Providence Christian church. Mrs. Boaz was one of the finest Christian women in her community.
Mrs. Boaz is survived by six sons. They are Alfred and Carl of Franklin and John, William, Otis, and Everett of Union township. She also leaves three brothers, Abe and Cornelius Deer of Union township, James Deer of Greenfield, and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Harris of Indianapolis.
